Mormoiron

Mormoiron

A charming Provençal village at the foot of Mont Ventoux, Mormoiron with its small shops, vineyards and surrounding nature offers the perfect holiday destination both for those in search of peace and relaxation and those seasoned sports enthusiasts wanting to tackle the unforgiving slopes of the Giant of Provence by bike.

The Markets of Mormoiron

Every Tuesday, the village is brought to life by its large Provençal market where you can stock up on fresh and seasonal produce as you stroll along the stalls.

Sunday is time for "Lou Pichoun Merca" (“little market" in the local Provençal dialect) which is reserved for local producers eager to introduce you to our amazing local produce :-)

Les Salettes lake

With sandy beaches and a picnic area under the shade of tall willow trees, the “Plan d’Eau des Salettes” man-made lake is situated in Mormoiron.
Swimming is supervised by lifeguards during the summer months. The lakeside “La Cahute” restaurant offers a shady terrace and panoramic view.

Treetop adventure course

Ventoux Aventure welcomes you to its large shady park, set in a pine forest where you can soar above the ground and get the adrenaline pumping. There are several different levels, from the most fun to the most demanding and, when you add in the thrilling zip line route, there really is something for everyone! An unmissable family activity!

Good to know: a special price is offered to Slow Provence customers.

The Gorges of the Nesque

The Gorges of the Nesque river are one of the region's best kept secrets, with relatively few visitors and yet a truly impressive sight. They offer stunning hiking terrain and a panoramic route not to be missed. The Nesque river has its source on Mont Ventoux and, for thousands of years, it has passed through these steep cliff sides and the escarpment that snakes between Monieux and Villes-sur-Auzon.

Château Pesquié

This magnificent vineyard is set within a large estate that once belonged to the family of the famous Provençal writer, Alphonse Daudet. You are invited to discover wines from the Ventoux “terroir” by dropping in or going on one of their guided tours, ‘introduction to wine-tasting’ and ‘a half-day with picnic’.

There are many lovely hikes and walks around the estate and vineyard.

The ochre trail of Mormoiron

Abandoned for several years, this former quarry mined between the late 19th and the 20th century has found a new lease of life as a discovery trail. Along this walk, this yellow-orange trail reveals the old materials needed to extract ochre, cliff-faces, excavations and tunnels, but also beautiful engravings by artists who come to express their talent on the sandy rock.

There is a hiking route for exploring the site: www.visorando.com/randonnee-les-ocres-de-mormoiron
